Chicago Mayor makes excuses for violent criminals

If you saw the news this past weekend, you may have seen hooligans running through the streets of Chicago, leaving a trail of violence in their wake. This has become the norm for large cities like Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles. A perfect example of the Democrat's shift to soft-on-crime policing is the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's "Day One" memo. In the memo, Bragg instructed his subordinates to not prosecute low-level crime and to only jail the most serious offenders.

Is it any wonder how these policies contribute to higher levels of crime in major cities? Imagine telling a child they won't get punished for misbehaving, they would go balistic. You can't advertise that crime will go unpunished and then expect anything short of riots and looting to occur.

After the criminality that took place this past weekend, newly-elected Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson indicated that he will continue the soft-on-crime policies of his predecessor when he said, "it is not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been starved of opportunities in their own communities."

Mayor Johnson did not mention law and order or policing once in his statements regarding the criminal behavior we witnessed in Chicago. All of this means one thing: if you're living in a major city that's run by progressives, you should only expect the crime rate to increase exponentially, and we only have the liberals to blame. If you'd like to read more about how progressive cities are suffering due to soft-on-crime policies, please read this article from The New York Post. An excerpt of the article has been copied below:

We watched a mob of teens riot through the streets of downtown Chicago over the weekend.

For three straight days, one of the safest places to visit in my hometown wasn’t.

Young people destroyed property, beat up other teens and even assaulted tourists.

First, teens wrecked a $120,000 Tesla, and police reported some were engaging in “reckless and disruptive behavior.”

The riot soon escalated, and, of course, gunfire erupted, striking two teen boys, who are in stable condition.
