Historically Standard Time was implemented so that railroads could reasonable determine arrival times from one side of the country to the other. It was also necessary to establish time zones. This helped the railroad determine when a train left New York it would have complete access to the railway and not run into a train coming from California. Daylight Savings Time does not in fact Save Daylight - it just means that your time is manipulated in the Spring and in the Fall by an arbitrary decision made in World War 1. It may have had some practical reasons due to using candles instead of electricity, but the necessity for indoor "daylight" has been resolved a long time ago. So - keep it to one time or the other - doesn't matter to me other than the hour we have to adjust too. I prefer Standard Time, because that is what gives us in the northern hemisphere the better light options for winter. In the summer the sunlight wakes me up with or without my alarm going off.
