Megalo Linux 10.5 has been revived as a Windows 10 Clone
Megalo Platforms has announced the release of Megalo Linux 10.5, the latest stable version of the project's Linux-based distribution with a look and feel that emulates Windows 10 and with useful tools designed to help users migrate from Windows to Linux. This version is based on Ubuntu 20.04 and it features a highly customised Cinnamon desktop called "WX Desktop". Some of the improvements in Megalo Linux 10.5 include: support for older computers; a re-worked Wine compatibility layer with better support for Windows games as well as *.exe and *.msi files which can now be launched by double-clicking them in the file manager; inclusion of OnlyOffice 5.6.0 "Desktop" edition at the expense of Microsoft office with an updated desktop theme and control panel; re-designed login and logout screens; improvements to file sharing. As well as Vmware workstation pro 16 built in by default. A Special license of Vmware has been setup specifically for the distro. The Linux kernel has been updated to version 5.7.15. This new version of Megalo Linux has been stripped of all ubuntu reliance and now has its own core repository and source code. No more updates form third party repos.
